Perfecto Muñoz, MPH, PhD, Executive Director
It has been a pleasure working for West Modesto Community Collaborative, a community-based organization with a rich history in serving the needs of vulnerable communities in West Modesto. This opportunity has given me a firsthand overview of the many challenges of managing and directing a community-based organization.
Coming from an academic background I realized the challenges and opportunities with community-based organization depends on community participation within the organization. Before accepting this position, I had just retired from the University of California after ten years on the Berkeley campus. I directed and wrote a number of reports on the topic of health access and economic insecurities within the vulnerable communities in California Central Valley. In keeping with the spirit of community involvement, this education experience has offered me new insight into what takes place within communities of color. “As my father once told me, never look back, just focus on what’s in front of you. There is more ahead of you than from behind you.”
I want to welcome all community members and partners to our new and improved website and hope that it provides insight into all of the positive things that are happening at West Modesto Community Collaborative.
