The People's Plan for Stanislaus County, also known as "El Plan del Pueblo," is a community-driven initiative aimed at addressing economic and social challenges. It seeks to develop sustainable, locally-based solutions for job creation and economic development, prioritizing the well-being of all residents, rather than just large industries like agriculture and manufacturing. What sets it apart is its emphasis a grassroot bottom-up solution, involving BIPOC residents and innovative strategies that prioritize people in inclusive economic planning.
Discussions in regards to The People's Plan take place during our community builders meetings. Register to stay up-to-date with what meetings are dedicated to The People's Plan by clicking the link below.

In February, thanks to the help of community-based partners, we conducted further outreach on the People’s Plan (El Plan Del Pueblo) in South Modesto with focus group and survey sessions. As a result of this engagement, we were able to draw key insights regarding what community members viewed as their main concerns and suggestions for addressing those concerns in the community.
In December, we engaged community residents in Modesto and Turlock through discussions with Seniors at the King-Kennedy Memorial Center and students at the California State University – Stanislaus.
In November, thanks to assistance from family resource center staff we were in conversation with community members from the Airport Community neighborhood in Modesto. With this engagement, we gathered more insights and learned from community members how to better address their needs.
The People's Plan team joined the community builders meeting to receive suggestions from the community on how to improve the survey that would be presented to the public during their focus groups.
In September, we launched our first focus group and survey session as part of the People’s Plan of Stanislaus County (aka, El Plan Del Pueblo del Condado de Stanislaus). In our five focus areas, focus group participants from West Modesto shared their concerns as well as suggestions to respond to improve quality of life in the Stanislaus County region.
The People's Plan has commenced! We are thrilled to kick off the People's Plan with Dr. Manuel Pastor, USC Dornsife Equity Research Institute, and Dr. Edward Flores, Associate Professor of Sociology, UC Merced Community and Labor Center. They join us to discuss the growth of Stanislaus and the power the people hold.
